The Falcon Wi-TS is a battery-operated digital temperature sensor with a 418 MHz, FCC-certified radio transmitter. The Wi-TS provides a temperature output signal from an internal thermistor, and the information is transmitted to a point managing receiver, RLE’s FDS-Wi wireless sensor network manager. The Wi-TS is designed to provide accurate, timely data while consuming minimal power, resulting in a battery life of up to four years.
Wireless monitoring systems provide many advantages over traditional hard-wired systems. One main benefit is installation cost – no longer are electricians and conduit necessary to have an accurate temperature monitoring system. Adding new sensors or relocating current ones is made simple using RLE’s wireless sensor network manager (FDS-Wi), which contains an auto-discover mechanism that detects modifications to the system.
